The Fédération des Organisations Laïques de l'Indre (FOL) is a large organisation in non-formal education in the department of Indre, located in center France. It gathers 355 local organisations in the field of education (long life learning), youth, educational leisure activities, sport, environment and sustainable development, european citizenship and international solidarity.
The FOL holds two youth services in the south of the department which is very rural. Those two youth services support teenager's and youngster's projects (11-25 years old). 7 youth workers take part in those youth services. They aim at helping young people living in rural areas to take initiatives in implementing their own projects. They also help them to take part in local projects in their life area to apply their citizenship. Besides, many projects have been developed for 10 years. One of the services is also a youth information office and holds a housing service for people between 16 and 30 years old.
Those services are nomade, it means that the youth leaders go to the youngsters, where they are : at school, in villages, youth institutions... Then they help them to find a project (with a special game for this) and support them to organise it. This kind of intervention is the only way to make the services reachable by all young people here because there is no way to move except car (no public transport at all).
The youth services organise also summer camps, activities to be critical about medias, voluntary work.
The youth services work with 3 high schools, and they want to give the opportunity to the young people to increase their european citizenship and exchange with young people from other countries. So 3 youth exchanges have been organised in 2012, 2013 and 2015, and the FOL is accredited as an EVS receiving, sending and coordinating organisation from 2013.
If you want to apply for an EVS or if you want more information about the FOL, you can contact Judith, youth worker for Erasmus+ projects.
